Interview with Nick Arrojo (USA)
What makes this trend project so unique for you? For me, Trend Vision is the most important project in our business. It's just so unbelievably fascinating to be able to create tomorrow's hair trends today. Also, to already know about these trends and developments now gives you such an unbelievable head start as regards know-how. Besides this, I really admire the work of photographer Felix Lammers because he captures the trend statements so perfectly and, as such, adds the finishing touches to the final trend creations.
Where do you get your inspiration from? I often get new ideas and stimulus on the streets of New York because it's a metropolis that is simultaneously pulsating and visionary. The unique melting pot of diverse cultures and characters also inspires me.
What makes a good stylist? Alongside technical skill, a good stylist is marked by intuitive understanding, friendliness and imagination. Also, the atmosphere in the salon is all important. As well as professionalism, it needs to emanate warmth and friendliness, as this is vital to ensuring that the customer's visit becomes a unique experience.
What makes your job so interesting? Apart from the expertise, creativity and great variety, I love the contact with my customers and staff the most. The communication, emotions and exchange of know-how are an essential part of my job and make it worthwhile for me.
