urban manifesto - An urban world-view without constraints
„Live your life confidently in your own way – forget the dictates of fashion!“
Urban Manifesto plays with fashion brands and their emblems, and in a lively and informal way combines different cultural aspects to create something new and individual. As a spontaneous expression
of attitude, it is found as graffiti on the walls
of high-rise buildings, on billboards, colourful
T-shirts and in wild hairstyles. The message of Urban Manifesto is direct and to the point, with no beating about the bush. Shrill and colourful music and art function as the ears and eyes of this manifesto.
Elements of the agenda include provocation,
and questioning established ways and the existing
order. The window to global uniformity is slammed shut. It is opened wide, however, to the large new family of fascinating individuals – as the entrance to their own new world.
This also applies to hair. Hair, too, proclaims
the message of the manifesto, shining full of contrast in a colourful spectrum. Whether hard black, cold white, intensive red or metallic blue – to completely coloured, with streaks or individual colour effects that shimmer provocatively through the covering hair – the range of possibilities seems endless. The play of colours is followed
by the play of lengths: hair cut short, preferably asymmetrical – the hair can be long, too –
it just has to be wild.
Contrasts determine the styling: untamed curls, straight hair, combed backward, forward, or completely styled into spikes, perhaps separated into individual strands. And when it comes to clothing, there are no taboos left for the colourful ethnic urban Techno generation. This generation makes free and confident use of all the possibilities of fashion, combining materials, colours and textures in a wild and fragmentary way. The effect
is garish and graphic, with elements of collage. Andy Warhol, The Velvet Underground, the Studio 54 scene and the beat generation –
these are the inspirations for this impetuous mixture of styles. The individualism is extreme in a trendy neo-Punk style – striking
and multicultural. It is the manifesto of the
new urban world-view, freed from all con-
straints: Have the confidence to be yourself!
